LEGACYBOX
ONE AFTERNOON AT LEGACYBOX, a woman called us and told a story I’ll never forget: She’d divorced her husband ten years earlier, when he was struggling with addiction. Their estrangement persisted, as did his absence from their children. But then she used our service to rewatch old home movies and something changed.
“Because I got to remember who he used to be when our kids were younger,” she said, “I got in touch with him, and now they’re going to see him for the first time in a while.”
Many companies receive glowing endorsements, but few inspire moments like this.
Legacybox is a truly remarkable service. It preserves the footage from aging videotapes, film reels, and slides, and enables families to reconnect with the milestones that have given their lives meaning.
While there, I wrote more than a dozen radio and television ads, as well a copy for digital campaigns, direct-mail pieces, and promotional e-mails.
Because all creative work was judged by return on ad spend, I know that what I produced averaged a 413 percent return, bringing in more than ten million dollars of revenue. But the real reward—for me, at least—were those calls that came from customers.
