TYLER CABOT, longtime features and fiction editor at Esquire, called me in 2015 and asked if I’d be interested in helping with the launch of Esquire Classic, an archive of everything the magazine had published since its debut in 1933. He was probably aware there was nothing I’d rather do.
In addition to reviewing the archive, I helped put together a fiction anthology that included work by John Cheever, Denis Johnson, Joy Williams, and many other iconic writers.
A sign of an awesome project is when you can’t believe you’re getting paid to work on it. This was one of those projects.
